Programme Overview

Teachers, school leaders and lecturers are increasingly being required to take on a role in the coaching and mentoring of both new and more experienced colleagues. This new Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) programme is designed to provide effective postgraduate professional development in these areas and to develop the skills of coaching and mentoring in practice situations.

The programme builds on a strong research base in the Research Centre for Learning and Teaching (CfLaT) at Newcastle University and the experience of tutors involved in supporting the continuing professional development of teachers and lecturers as mentors and coaches in regional and national contexts.
