Programme Overview

This interdisciplinary programme is designed to equip you with a grasp of the environmental and socio-economic challenges facing tropical coastal zones so that, as an expert, you may facilitate sustainable development through appropriate understanding and management.

There are almost 300 graduates from this programme successfully working throughout the tropics for non-governmental organisations, companies and national and international agencies. The programme provides you with an advanced understanding of the key factors that underpin effective coastal management including cultural, legal, political, scientific and technological dimensions.

The programme is supported by inputs from other academic institutions, industry and government and non-governmental organisations. Hands-on training is provided through supervised independent study for the main MSc research project, lectures, practical classes and a wide range of case studies using real-world examples.
