Modern Literature and Culture. University of Roehampton
The MA in Modern Literature and Culture offers an exciting and dynamic
approach to the study of literature from the eighteenth century to the
present. The course explores a diverse range of canonical, popular and
forgotten texts, focussing on their relationship to key cultural
concepts, including space, the body, consumption, the everyday and the
materiality of the text. You will explore topics including visual texts,
the development of popular genres, London as a site and inspiration for
literary texts, the literature of food, women's autobiography, race and
the body, and narratives of addiction. The unique organisation of the
MA offers both range and depth and builds to an independent dissertation
on any aspect of modern literature and culture.
