The programme provides training in postgraduate level research skills in language and linguistics. The programme is specifically designed not only to provide students with post-graduate level conceptual training across the various areas of language and linguistics, but also crucially to afford students the opportunity to focus the development of their research skills on and within their chosen sub-discipline. Both the academic context and the geographical context of the programme make the programme unique. Based within the School of Communication, the programme is distinctive in its breadth, offering modules in core theoretical generative linguistics as well as modules in conversation and discourse analysis.
