This is a part time course that will require you to be working as a Registered Healthcare Professional and professional accreditation allowing you to treat patients. At completion of this course the practitioner will be able to assess footwear as part of the diagnostic, management, and rehabilitation process in the care of patients. He or she will be expected to focus on developing advanced clinical skills. This will require the gathering of a sound knowledge of the principles of lower limb biomechanics, the construction of footwear and foot orthoses and the role of footwear in diagnosis and therapy. The candidate will complete an evaluation of the current facility for the provision of specialist/therapeutic footwear comparing theory with practice. This award will draw heavily on clinical experts and specialist lecturers in the field of footwear and require the candidate to be reflective, analytical and questioning of the current approach to footwear in diagnosis and therapy.
